    !!!!!! is all that about?
  • I read that one person wanted to send chocolate and lads mags through to the guys, which of course would be gratefully receieved, however,a really bad idea.

Chocolate doesn't stand up well in the heat of Afhanistan or Iraq, and lads mags are not allowed because of local law and will be removed.

Check out the BFPO website for what is and is not allowed, that way the guys still get parcels instead of having them confiscated.

Again to reiterate the point made earlier, please don't just send to "a soldier" although it's a lovely thought, and thank you for wanting to do it, it does mean that the posties have to go out more than they would, meaning they are risking their lives more than they would. A donation to Help the Heroes, Poppy Appeal or any of the charities would also be a great thing to do.

I agree with flinky478. Give to one of the above mentioned charities or back local soldiers doing their own fundraising for their injured collegues/friends.

Plus there are a lot more welcome home parades these days... go along to these. Soldiers marching in these parades after returning home are genuinely astounded and humbled by good public turn outs. It's the best thing for them to know their work was appreciated.
