Sorry but what would be the point of a DVD recorder that didn't record TV?
If you are referring to digital terrestrial (freeview) then you need to buy a DVD recorder with a freeview tuner. Some have built in harddrives that make them more versatile.

I think the OP is asking if you can record from an existing freeview box using a DVD recorder.

My understanding is that yes, you mostly can, but it depends on the outputs of the freeview box and the inputs of the DVD recorder. If the DVD recorder has a scart input it can record from then you're good to go, just have to remember to leave the freeview on and tuned to the correct channel. However with this setup you wouldn't be able to watch any other freeview channels while recording another.

Digitalb is not a freeview channel its a satellite channel -- You can take a scart from the sat box & feed it to your DVD recorder no problems -- I have 3 sat rxers and freeview but the way I connect them is via a scart switch box to the dvd recorder and use this as the input source switch -- that way I can use the other sat boxes as normal inputs to the TV --
