How to solve the crisis

"For those with deep pockets - like Warren Buffett - now and over the next couple of years is the best possible moment to be investing. The best time to invest, always, is when everything looks gloomiest. That's when the bargains are to be had."

Of course the stock market would like to refloat itself - but since 1998 (really) every time it has launched itself it has come a cropper. In other words these revivials all peter out.

Perhaps we need to get a 'new' stockmarket and not invest anything in London?

There are certain sections (News quiz Friday 3rd Oct e.g.) that believe that the whole point of the crisis was to (re)launch Peston's career.

Not that I'd subscribe to that particular line of thought of course.

(Though I did find it amusing.)

Wasn't Peston instrumental in the initial NR run?

Well it will be for Peston - he appears to have sole advance warning of every deal the gubmint is about to strike.

Who needs the long-established RNS service when u can drip-feed info to the masses via a tame BBC journalist?

Robert Peston is as ubiquitous now as Tony Slattery was in the 1990's.

We might see Peston throwing his clothes into the Thames soon then..........

He scaremongers about Northern rock, they go down... he scaremongers about B & B, they go down...

Now he turns to the Icelandic banks! He is seriously getting on my nerves.

He won't rest until he's destroyed our banking system, all to further his own career. A sad product of the media these days, whose goal is to make the news, not to report it; all in the name of profit.

You expect too much from the State Broadcaster.

The BBC has its own truth, while everyone else has theirs, and ne'er the twain shall meet.

The Ministry of Truth has an appalling track record of subservience to the City of London..

Have you thought about canceling your TV licence in protest?

We canceled in 2001 and have saved over £1,000!

    I don't like Peston.

    I don't like the BBC.

    But ...

It may just be that he's got good at getting information. What's a journo meant to do?
