Anyone work for CSL Sofas?

Does anyone on here work for CSL sofas?
I've seen a leather sofa that I want call the Ascari and I was after the 2 and 3 seater ones. I spoke to the man in my local CSL and asked about a discount for paying cash and he just refused point blank saying they never give discounts and the only deals they do are interest free credit.
Surely this can't be true! Particularly in the current economic climate. The mark up on sofas is huge and I thought they were priced high so that they can offer a deal to get your business.
If someone on here works for CSL please get in touch - liverpoolguy@hotmail.com as I want this sofa and I am willing to buy it through someone on here if they can do me a deal.
Alternatively if anyone knows who manufactures this sofa that would be even better.
Thanks

this is the time of year that furniture retailers, price set, ready for the next bank holiday sale.
CSL are well known for charging high prices and big profits. they would rather not sell at all than take a discount hit.
we will have to see if that policy keeps them in business over the next few yrs.
they may still find sales falling off a cliff just like LOL etc...Get some gorm.0 -
i see your point about cash discount, i'm the same. best bargains so far are our honeymoon, from £8500 to £6200, and my car, £25850 to £19250. i work for a large electrical retailer, and regularly get people asking me for it. the thing you need to remember though is that a lot of retailers although maybe selling expensive items don't have the margins to do it. cash is not a huge advantage, it costs money to bank and has to be kept securely etc which takes time. personally, i wouldn't consider a cash discount unless we were dealing with £5k plus, and even then we would be talking a very minimal amount. most cusotmers spending up to 2.5k buy in cash/debit card anyway, so you are not in a unique position. keep trying, i do, but you may well not succeed0

I know what you're saying but I think with Sofas its different. We've looked at ones in SCS, DFS and Land of Leather and the staff in all those shops said they'd do us a deal for buying cash. Other people I've spoken to have said you should never pay the ticket price when buying a sofa as the margins are so high and the sales people have plenty of room for manouveur (can't spell).
Also the price includes buy now pay in 12 months so thats priced in already, so for buying cash there should surely be a saving.
COME ON.... Someone must know someone who works for CSL???
Or maybe know who manufactures this sofa??0 -

I would never pay cash for furniture, there has been just so many cases of people loosing the whole lot when the company goes bust before delivery. If your disciplined then the 3-4 year 0% deals are safer, and when you compound the money not yet paid it makes a good discount.0 -
just because credit is interest free it doesn't mean the retailer is losing out, and therefore they would still be reluctant to take cash. the other thing is cash is not free money to the retailer, its risky to store and carry, and companies have to pay to bank it, its really not a massive weapon. beware of companies in the current climate, i tmay be they are desperate fo r the cash to pay the bills, that sexactly what happened with powerhouse, they sold things at huge discounts for cash to generate money to pay the bills and suppliers, now they are gone, jessops are following too. even interest free deals can be profitable for the retailer. i sell a lot of interest free finance, the credit comopanies pay big commissions on it, it means they have your details to sell on if you don't opt out of markeitng etc, and they can entice you with credit card loans etc in the future, sure they lose money on some customers but imagine if just onein every 100 customers later took out a large loan or mortgage form them, that one person would pay for the other 99 and plenty more, i'm not saying don't haggle, i'm not a hypocrite, but just beware to a company not desperate for money that is profitable etc a cash discount simply won't happen, no matter what we as consumers may think.0

The reason that they give discount on interest free credit deals is because they are like a cash deal. The retailer gets the csh from the finance houce straighaway, and it is the finance house who takes the risk, as said they even pay commision fo rthe customers details. SO your can I get a adiscount for cash, should really be, "can I pay of the interest free credit straightaway?" if you can afford to get the sofa outright, take a deal and then pay off the finance, or stick it in an interest bearing account and add the proceeds to your discount.0
