by getting a copy of the latest set of company accounts and dividing the earnings figure by the number of shares in issue.....
.....but most research sites will have done this for you and will just show it as EPS so no need for you to delve too deep.
There used to be a really good book called "The Beginner's guide to Investment". Not sure if it has been updated recently, but well worth a look in the library. This book will give you, in really easy terminology, the various ratios and what they are used for.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
