Help! Problems reading CD-R on a Pioneer 110d 1.7

Hi All!

Fresh from my excitement of yesterdays 1st burn (!) my Pioneer writer SEEMS to have a problem. Whilst attempting to burn an audio cd, when i put a CDR disk in the writer to burn it just says 'empty drive or media not recognised'??! Tried a different cd-this time a traxdata disc, same again-even got a new pack-same again! The drive just seems to make a noise that repaeats every 5-8 secs-like its 'trying' to read the disk??

Strangely it's still burning DVD-R disks ok. Any ideas or do I have to take the b****y thing back??

Chris

PS-Tried re-booting, etc...

Try updating firmware, remember to back up first though. Just search in google Firmware update and name of drive
  • Thanks for this (& your other!) reply.

Updated firmware-no different. Pioneer technical support say that it should read ALL CD'R'S. Suddenly happened this morning (after a 'power callibration' error message??!) & since then no CD media is recognised but still DVD works fine!

Shop i bought it from will put me another one in f.o.c tomorrow am. Strange though??! Apparently there are 2 lasers-one for DVD & one for CD & if the CD laser is 'out of line' then CD only won't work. Pioneer think it's this or a drive failure? How frustrating-just getting in to this!
