Recommend some components please

I want to buy a new Socket775 motherboard, a Pentium Dual Core processor and a PCI-E graphics card and have a budget of about £125. Had a look on Scan website but i'm out of touch with all the jargon and abbreviations that follow the description of each product.

Could anyone recommend 3 components that will definately work together in this price range please?

you're not going to get a lot for the money, how about getting integrated graphics, and a higher clocked cpu? I'm assuming this is not for gaming. :)
are you sure your existing ram will be compatible with a new mobo?

Novatech are good they have good after sales. Apparently scan come highly recommend too. I used them before but haven't had to send anything back

    Some mobos/ram/cpu combinations below

If gaming is your desire you can easily spend £80 on a decent graphics card plus you may need a new PSU as modern cards draw a lot of power
  • Thanks for the links, yeah I will go for onboard graphics to begin with, always the option to upgrade later :)

Onboard graphics really is a big no no tbh as it uses your systems memory to power it which is slower then the memory on a graphics card and is obviously taking performance away from the computer.

I have recommended 3 bits for you from ebuyer.

    ASUS P5B Socket 775 Core 2 ready P965 chipset onboard audio ATX Motherboard 113965 58 in stock £50.65 £43.10 £50.65 £43.10

    Intel Pentium Dual Core E2220 2.4GHz (800MHz) Socket 775 1MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor 143203 25 in stock £56.71 £48.26 £56.71 £48.26

    PowerColor HD 3450 256MB DDR2 64bit VGA DVI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card 140262 20 in stock £23.81 £20.26 £23.81 £20.26
(click if you have changed any details) Cart total inc vat: Cart total ex vat: £131.17

Although £6 over your budget I think the free super saver postage more then makes up for it.
  • If you're not going to be using it for games or anything really intensive why not have a look at something like an AMD 64 X2 5000+ for aprox £40 which would leave you enough money for an average motherboard and gfx card. Tbh if you're just watching some movie clips, listening to music, burning cd's etc then you'll notice next to no difference between that cpu and an intel one twice the price.
