depending on the number of files, speed of the drive etc., a few minutes to a few hoursUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Could be all night easily ~ thats why I leave mine running at night:idea:0

I wouldn't rely on it either. A friend of mine is a agent for avg, he gets rid of viruses on customers pc's and even he find viruses/trojans that avg wont get rid off only superantispyware got rid of some nasties and it takes hours to do it. He even rang up there tech support and they admitted that there is a problem with some viruses/trojans that avg cant remove
I too have the last week had issues with Trend and found malawarebytes although found two trojans and removed them it came back on boot up superantispyware removed both so I have them on protect mode now0 -
Going back to original question "complete a system scan on your PC?"
How long is a piece of string?
Lots of factors
1. number of files and size of them
2. the speed of your computer
3. the speed of your hard drive
4. how fragmented is your hard drive?0 -
avg antivirus does a different job to malwarebytes etc, most people use a virus scanner in conjunction with 2 or more antyspy/malware programs, none are infallable.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

True none are 100% guaranteed hence why I made the post that you cant rely on it and I also got two the other day with another AV/Firewall, Trend Internet security Pro 20080

I use kapersky AV, and just trust it..(plus its quite cheap from amazon)

I did a scan on a friend's PC the other day with next to nothing on it. and it took an hour. I expected it to be quicker, I'm sure F Secure on my own PC is a lot faster than that.0

Not being funny but avg is free so I wouldn't expect it to catch everything.
I would say you get what you pay for but I'm not impressed with a lot of the antivirus / spyware packages out there either.
Different products for antivirus and spyware for me personally is the way forward.0 -

Mines caught loads
Just because you PAY for something (Especially in the PC enviroment) does NOT necessarily mean its better:idea:0
