'Research' Sidebar

Since buying a new laptop my husband has found that sometimes when using a Word document a Research sidebar suddenly opens randomly to the right of the document and stops him from editing the document further or even saving it. Outlook then also ceases to function correctly. The only way to resolve things is to reboot.
Does anyone know what's causing this or more importantly, how he can stop it happening?

sounds like 'office' didnt install properly
Try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

He reinstalled Office but is still getting this problem. Does anybody have any other ideas please?

You're a star, Stompa. Have done what that link suggests, so fingers crossed it's gone forever!

Aaaaargh! It's still there - it appears on Word, Excel and to a lesser extent Outlook. Does anybody have any other suggestions please? The real problem is that when it appears it's then impossible to close the open document down or save any changes, and more often than not means having to reboot.
