Wireless wires question

Was just wondering if anyone was able to help....
We have a main desktop computer in one room and the livebox is also in there. I have a laptop working wirelessly in another room. The main computer has broken but the livebox is still working - does the livebox work even when the main computer is switched off? ie. does it have to be connected to a computer to work?
I had a look at the livebox and there are three wires coming out of it; a red one that connects into the main computer, a black one to the plug and a grey one to the phone line. In effect could the livebox be in any room with a phone line whether theres a computer there or not?
thanks

The livebox should work whether the main PC is on or not, and you should be able to move it to any phone socket in the house, and any PC with a wireless connection should be able to use it easily enough.
It sounds as if the main PC is connected by an ethernet cable. If so, you won't be able to connect it if the livebox gets moved, unless you've got a very long cable and don't mind it running all over the house! Alternatively (probably the easier solution), is get a wireless adaptor for the main PC.0 -
