Child maintenance - quick question
Comments
-
If her and her partner are students are they allowed to claim any benefits like Job seekers or Income support?
They can claim tax credits (child) and this is not affected by maintenance payments. They would be getting Child benefit also. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I agree with Annie. Also if your bf doesn't have receipts for the maintenance he pays (or pay by dd etc) it could backfire on him if she decides to go to CSA and do it through them-he may get hit with arrears!. My husband is a victim of a mum who decided to withold contact despite court orders. It can get very nasty, plus she could turn the kids against him by saying daddy shopped mummy!Think carefully-I agree that benefit fraud is wrong and it makes my blood boil too,but I think in some circumstances it is so much more important to try to maintain a relationship of some sorts betweem parents-it's horrible for kids to know their dad hates mummy with a passion-and believe me he may never say it in front of them, but they DO know!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
