When price increase at Ebico?
I got my electricity bill from Ebico-Southern Electric from 7 jul to 1 oct. This is a second bill as I have submitted an online meter reading a few days ago.
Now they are charging me the new risen prices from 2 sep to 1 oct. I did go on Ebico website and it states that the new prices will be applied from 2 october.
Have they made a mistake on that one? Has anyone got a letter from them about the price rises? I've never got anything.

Check the rates.
I was paying 9.80 kWh until very recently. Went up to 11.38 kWh not long ago and looks like will be 14.62 kWh now!! SHOCKING!!!0 -
I have checked it. The rates are right, it's when they suppose to charge the new rates that I want to make sure. On their website, Ebico states that the new rates will become effective on 2 october, so I don't understand why they started charging me the new rates for the whole of september.
On the first statement for the same period they were charging the old rate for the whole 3 months.0 -
This is a recurrent problem with many utilities' billing systems. An initial automatic bill that spans a price change is usually correct* but a subsequent recalculated bill will not reflect the change correctly. It's a question of having to ask that the bill be corrected.
* if the consumption estimate is accurate. (I'm alright because they usually overestimate my consumption.)0 -
I've tried to call southern electric about this all morning, it sounds busy every time.
Don't I suppose to have an automated services at the other end and be put in a queue?0 -
Saturday morning after a 35% increase they're busy? Well, I never! There's probably a queueing system but you still have to pay to wait (I presume). I'd just pay what I calculate I owed and then send an email or letter telling them I need a manually recalculated bill.0

As an ebico customer, you can call them on 0800 096 6344
Yes, they do have an automated queueing system if they are busy, but at least they are paying for the call."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Just got through, there were probably too many people trying to get to them.
I rarely need to call them but every time I do, I am reminded how nice and helpful those people working in the southern electric call centre are, and I wonder why it's not like that in every call centre.
After having been messed about by BG for months on end (before I moved to Ebico 3 years ago), I would be reluctant to move to another company, only for that. Once burned......0
