I thanked that devish post to see if she would come back to life, but it didn't work. Does PPR just affect that particular log in, or does it affect the whole street?

Which thread of Mewbies? I may have missed it..I will go and hunt now.

I admit, I lost patience with Dervish's posts, but, perhaps they were left up on the board to show the mindset behind those types of beliefs?

I have a feeling we are returning to The World Of Niche. Feels better.;)

Oh my God, the Friday night "lovin thread" has been locked, before I could summon up the courage to post one of the totally unsuitable smilies for all you beautiful people..

Now all this spring time rising sap is leaking out onto this thread, which used to be up to date with useful economic stuff..

Please can we have a sticky lovin thread of our own in this by invitation club?

    Harry

After all we have a built in "joshing" thread at the end of Felix's foot. I reckon there must be something in the water out there.

Some people from different backgrounds fail to realise they have only found their place in society, when people are "frank" with them - beware polite indifference.:footie::footie::footie::footie:

The board is finished when Mr L does the next re-org IMO. Too much hassle, too much moderation (sorry - 'Board Guide' action can't call it moderation (due to libel laws?)), loads of grief and it scares away the normal people who want to cut their gas bill or buy cheap pizzas.

Interesting piece in the Grauniad by Krugman (just to keep things on topic):

Fair Dinkum Gen, you have done a lot for your unbiased credentials with that one :T
Then again, I suppose you are a Mortgage broker now icon7.gif I can't imagine your Devons, Tramps or Wookies posting that even if they had read it
BTW it sounds that if he was a gambling man he may have been visiting the bookies after the Euro elections.

PK: Well, the UK has achieved a lot of monetary traction in the way that no one else has through the depreciation of the pound. In effect, you've carried out a successful beggar-my-neighbour devaluation.

    PK:
Yeah. That's why I've been watching with an outsider's slight puzzlement, your bizarre political circus.
    :rotfl:

When the board goes we will all have to retire to Pastures board and your blog:cool:
You may end up with a job to do and busy blog to maintain.;)

Aus economically anyway looks like it'll be far better off then any other western type country, Im not sure what unemployment rate they have but everything else Ive heard is not approaching recession.

A Currency trader yesterday for example estimates their currency to achieve parity with the dollar before year end. Their gdp is much more backed by commodity fundamentals then uk afaik, wish I could move there myself tbh

Dont like that krugman guys wishy washy opinions and the uk stockmarket already had a lost decade here
For real value growth its going to need a proper investment manager not trackers in uk and usa I think and I think it'll be about achieving efficiency the Japanese could not because of their cultural commitments.

In USA failure is not the same absolute as it is in Japan, its how you come back that matters. If government will actually allow failure and therefore also potential for success then they arent in the Japan model

The "Nipponisation" of the world economy with a bunch of "Argentinafications" playing a role in the acute crisis. But even after those are over, we have the Nipponisation of the world economy. And that's really something.

    Love it.

Think I prefer Japan to Argentina.

Aus has gone down the pan, won't be emigrating there just yet.

You think so? Things seem to be panning out quite nicely over here as far as I can see. China's economy seems to be picking up nicely which will do wonders for exports, Rudd is down in the polls and there is a lot of scandal surrounding Labor that is just starting to come out so hopefully we'll be shot of him next election and there's the Ashes to look forward to and the friendly banter that goes with it.

I'm sure if you ever wanted to move here they'd make you as welcome as they've made me.
