Hi was wondering if anyone could help, i need a bouncy type seat for my 7 month old as the one he has now is not for his age and the strap on it is too tight.
He is not yet sitting up unsupported and i was wondering what i could use ie for when he just wants to sit with his toys while i get on with housework.
Thanks
Kyle

I found the play ring invaluable. You can get them from mothercare and kiddicare.com. I inflates giving back support for baby to allow them to sit and around the ring are toys to play with0

Hiya,
I think the bouncy chairs tend to have weight restrictions on them, about 9kgs from memory. I found with my kids at about that age that they loved a door bouncer. If they can support their head then they can use one. It hangs from your door frame and child sits in it.They just bounce up and done which to us sounds mundane but kids LOVE IT. Its also great for strengthening their leg muscles in prep for walking. ELC do this one

And if your order online and use ecoupon HOLLY you will save 20%.
You can get others, I know Lindam does one for about £25 and places like Mothercare, Toys r Us and Argos are bound to do them too.

I thought door hangers had a weight restriction of 20lb, he is well over this as he was 19lb the last time he got weighed.

Can't remember the max weight of our door hanger but I'm sure it was recommended for 6 months ish & up, though she didn't fit in it for very long...
I used to prop dd up with cushions - have a v-shaped one which I used for back support when pg (must dig it out in fact) and baby support when feeding, and i used to sit her in the v with some extra cushions just in case. Of course, she fell forwards a few times, but got quite good very quickly and loved sitting 'be herself' much more than being in her bouncy chair. btw our chair was from mothercare & v basic but also quite roomy.

Have you thought of getting a Bumbo? My son hated his bouncy chair but really loved his Bumbo... they are utterly fantasic and I would really recommend them to anyone.....

I had same problem, my sons just gone 1 and hes only been sitting up unsupported for a few weeks. He used one of those swing chairs up to being 9 months, but hes small for his age. when he grew out of the swing i got a reclinging high/low chair which was ideal for keeping him supported at meal times and will probably last him until hes 3.0

He may not be sitting by himself yet but he probably wont be that far from it, have you thought about a baby walker or a baby entertainer...
something like these

(costco had the leapfrog one at £55 a few weeks back)
or these

Kiddicare has some baby walkers too for about £33.
I find my walker invaluable, my friend has a Graco Entertainer for her little one and this keeps my DH amused there too.
I can vouch for playrings too, i have the Winnie the Pooh one for DH, she was a little too young to appreciate it at first but she loves it now (shes 7months too).
Argos has the one that i have here http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3478945/Trail/C%24cip%3D29054.Toys%2Band%2Bbaby%3EC%24cip%3D29152.Baby%2Band%2Bnursery%2Btoys%3EC%24cip%3D29156.Disney%2Bbaby.htm
thats a bargain price, the cheapest i could get a few months back was £36. It comes with a free video too.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0 -
Hi thanks for your replys, i have ordered a galt playnest with gym, will see how he gets on with that. Quite like the idea of the leapfrog activity station, next time i am in costco i will look for them.
Thanks again.

You could wear him on your back in a sling. That's what I do with my son and he is 36lbs. A soft one like a mei tai would be best. That way he can see what you are doing and he can be involved in the housework too.0
