Scottish Rail Strike Advice

Hi Everyone,
I have to travel from Glasgow to Oxford for a meeting at 1pm on Wednesday. I decided train would be my best option and found a train leaving Glasgow at 6am that gets in at just past noon. The problem, however, is that there's a notice on the site saying that industrial action is scheduled from noon on Tuesday the 7th to noon on Wednesday the 8th. I'm not used to taking many trains so I was just wondering how badly this might affect my travel - would the train get cancelled if the strike goes ahead or would it be a long delay or would they simply put on buses down to the Engish leg of the journey? I phoned national rail enquiries but they were very vague and said they couldn't say anything until the talks were concluded.
I'm now thinking it might be a better idea to go down the night before even though it's inconvenient. It leaves the same issue though as the scheduled strike runs throughout the Tuesday. I looked at flights too and it would mean a lot of extra hassle and money plus quite a bus journey when I get there and I get quite ill on buses. I'm really unsure how to go about this and I know if I want to get a decent price on the train I'll need to book in advance but don't want to book if I might end up stranded.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Regards
Michelle

Hi,
I wouldnt worry too much. If the signallers strike does go ahead then main lines will be covered by Network Rail managers so you will not be affected anyway. It may affect regional services but not major routes. Don't worry.Up the Rams !!0 -

Thanks for the reply - that puts my mind at ease somewhat. Now for trying to find a decent price for the tickets!
