Funeral in Romford next week - travel help needed urgently!

I really want to attend a funeral in Romford next week. I'll be flying down from Edinburgh and I can't work out whether to fly into Stanstead or Luton. i can get a cheap flight into Luton arriving 0955, and leaving at 1805.
Alternatively I can fly into Stanstead, get the express into Liverpool St and then train to Romford, which gives me plenty of time.
My problem is, how on earth do I get from Luton to Romford - and is the above flight leaving me enough time for a 12 noon funeral?
Thanks, would appreciate your help as I really want to attend the funeral as it was someone I worked with who was very kind to me.

From Luton Airport get the shuttle bus to Luton Airport Parkway train station, then get train to King's Cross St Pancras, then tube to Liverpool St and then train to Romford, if your flight is a little late you might not get there for 12noon.
There might be a coach from Stansted Airport to Romford.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
eek - that's a lot of changes - I lived in London for years but I don't know Romford area at all!
What about the timings though - I've flown into Luton before and then gone into central London, horrifically to meet the friend that has died, and I can't see me getting to Romford with all those changes in just 2 hours, less if you allow the dicking about getting off the plane.
I'll google the bus though, thanks for your reply.0 -

I'm just on that site now Richard, from what I can see I can get a bus from Stanstead to Liverpool St, then I can train it out to Romford. dammit, the flights are hellish from Scotland to Stanstead as well - thanks again, appreciate it - I'm just getting frustrated!0

The buses may get stuck in traffic, perhaps stick to trains.
Any reasonable flights to London City Airport from Scotland, they might do a compassionate fare, but perhaps only for a relative.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
no, the flights to City were £300, I checked earlier. And she wasn't a relative, just a good friend who died of cancer aged 42. oh well, I've the weekend to play about with the logistics of the flights, thanks for your help.0
