I am interested in buying a new camera, something that takes good pics as well being good to use from a distance. I have a couple of hundred possibly a bit more if the right camera comes along.

The FX37 although it has a 5x zoom starts at 25mm, great for wide angles but leaving a little to be desired at the long zoom end.
Lumix FZ18 28-504mm equivalent £195 from 7dayshop.
Fuji S5800 38-380mm £80 refurb. Fuji shop.

Or the newer FZ28 £240 from Amazon gets really high ratings.

You'll have a job to beat the Canon SX 110is for around £200 with 9 megapixels and 10x zoom. Read the review here http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2008/10/03/Canon-PowerShot-SX110-IS/p10

If you were looking to take things a little more seriously and go for a DSLR, you could get the Nikon D40 with an 18-55 lens for around £240, with a bit of hunting around.0
