Hey, I am a 20 year old student, and I buy a weekly £29 travelcard, from a train station in a village in kent, to a main train station.
My question is because I am boarding the train in Kent, can I use the Card to get the 30% off my travelcard, I have tried asking the people at the train station but they don't seem to know what I am on about, I hope you guys do hee hee!
Many Thanks.

If you are entitled to the 30% discount then the fact you are loading it onto an oyster card rather than a standard travel card shouldn't make a difference.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. you have to apply for the student oyster card online... costs £5
you'll need a photo and your student ID number to apply - I got mine in 3 days.
just check with your rail station that it takes Oyster - I know that some station don't take pay as you go oyster so you should be OK with travel cards... but I personally have no idea if Kent stations do... I never go out that far
I got a weeks travel card for zone 1 & 2 and it only cost me £16.90 - I don't normally buy travel cards - just for this week as I'm having to go to so many different places (freshers and job committments) so I wont personally make much savings with this but I decided to get one just in case!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date
