If you have 2x blue connection ports on the back of the comp try changing it from the seperate graphics & plug it into the blue connector ie: the mother board blue connection.
If this fails check the status of the graphics card through device manager to see if its enabled or disabled.
Hope this helps.You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0 -
Thanks! Only one blue port on the back, which is where the monitor is plugged in. I had a look at Device manager, but couldn't see ny mention of graphics cards - is it labelled something else? Couldm't find anything like "video card" either.0

Is it "NVidia GeForce..."? If so, it is not enabled at present. Surely if it isn't enabled, then the monitor would never work though?0

yes ~ G force what?
As i explained previously
Round the back of your computer there will be 2 connections for the monitor
your monitor is plugged into the ONBOARD one clearly:idea:0 -
GEForce FX5200. There are two sockets, a blue one (where the monitor is plugged in) and a white one. Neither has anything written next to it.
Had to put on a light to look at back of PC. The monitor made a loud noise when I turned the light off again. But then that probably isn't relevant!0 -
thats odd!
I would have expected 2 blue ones.
Go back to the device manager and turn it back on
If its ok then install this driver ~

OK - will turn it on. Might this cause any other problems?0

Seems like you have it plugged into the onboard graphics on your motherboard, is it possible to look through the case or remoce the side panel & check to see if you have an external graphics card plugged into the mother board? You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0
