Electoral Registration

Ok so I got a letter today saying The Occupier. Its from Stafford Borough Council (thats where I am living).
Now I assume its the whole voting and shizzle and stuff.
Now it says on the top I have to fill the form is as its the law.
Is this actually true?
I am only living here for a year at the moment and I am already on the Electoral Role at home home (where I live out of term time), so not sure if there would be a clash.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I worked for the council doing this sort of job so a few pointers:
You need to be registered somewhere - at home is best
You can also be registered at uni
Being registered in 2 places means you can vote in both local elections but only in one place for a general election
If only a few people from the household want to be registered that's fine
Please fill it in and send it back to them. Even if you don't want to be registered then I think there is normally a box to tick to say not elligible/house empty and sign at the bottom. Also cross off anyone that no longer lives there.
If you don't send it back then you will get a red reminder (same form but in red) and then someone will be round knocking on the door.
Any other questions feel free to ask.0 -
So there won't be any problems being involved at 2 houses?
I will fill it in later and send it off.0 -
No problems being registered at two addresses - you just don't get two voting forms for a general election.0

Don't put your name on the elecoral role at your uni address unless you want to obtain credit there - I had loads of issue with my credit record and them not believing I'd moved out and a company I tried to get credit from accused me of fraud for not saying I'd lived at that address in the past x years - was a real pain to get sorted out.0

Yeh I've got my name on the gas and electric, and phone/broadband bill so I can only think it will be pretty useful having some extra credit.
I'll just have to remember to put this address, as well as my home home address, when applying
