Emirates,,,do they charge you at the airport to change a ticket?

I wonder if anyone knows much about Emirates and can help me with this one.
I often Fly with them to and from Thailand and change my return dates with no fees. Unfortunatly this time I needed to change it to 2week after the expiry (6month Validity),,,I faxed them my ticket who faxed it to Bangkok (as they are the ones that issue the fees) and they advised it would be around £175 as It would then stretch into the next available ticket of 1year. I called back & asked to change it,,,the lady asked..''Are you allowed to change it ??'',,I explained and advised yes.
I wasnt charged at this point....do you think I will be charged at the Airport in Manchester at check in??
Anyone had similar experience with Emirates??
Thank you :D

do you have to go to the ticket desk? if you do they might, and the checkin may send you there, i now when i worked on the ticket desk for an airline and we could use our decessrion. so you may be lucky, but if the ticket is out of date they may not have the same deceresion, as questions would be asked from revenue management.

so if they have sent you another ticket your okay, but if you have to go to the ticket desk they may well charge you
