Additional eBay Accounts

Hi there;

I read a thread on here about having one account for selling, one for buying... but I can't find the thread (I looked through pgs 1-20 twice last night and couldn't see it ahhh!)

Was wondering if somone could point me to it OR just let me know how you go about setting up an additional account....?

Its possible..BUT it is against ebays terms and conditions which could lead to a permenant ban if you are found out.

Using an alternate email adress is fooling ebay into thinking that you are someone else.

You could also end up acused of shill biding if you have two accounts.

No no no. You can have as many accounts as you want. With amazon you can only have one per house hold.

Having multiple ebay accounts serves little purposes, compared to what it did. Rule violations are carried over, if ones suspended you can't use the other.

....and as sellers not being able to leave negs, having a separate buying account is pretty pointless.

Can be handy though as a back up if your feedback gets hit.

It's useful to keep buying and selling accounts separate - even though buyers can not receive negs, it's not unheard of for a negged seller to watch for their previous buyers listing anything, so a retalitory neg can be left that way.

Besides, I often buy cheap items from eBay to resell, but if they were bought on my selling ID, my buyers could easily find my supplier! I also keep separate ebay accounts for business and personal use, as well as an ID for occasional posting on the Q&A battlefield.

There are a few other strategic reasons for having separate sellng ID's such as trying out listing methods, for keeping brand identies apart or for improving search engine relevancy. At last count I had 18 ID's, although many have been dormant for some time.

As above, registering an account is simple, just click the Register link, enter your details, and ensure you use a different email address. All other details can be exactly like the previous ID's, and up to 8 eBay accounts can be linked to one Paypal account at any one time.

Thank you; I was pretty sure it was okay to link one paypal to several accounts but wasn't quite sure. I'm going to set it up now

eBay allow you to have as many accounts as you have e-mail addresses. This helps make it so easy for scam sellers, fraudsters, dodgy dealers, etc. to have new accounts ready to use when one is closed down. You can set up an account and buy some cheap feedback within minutes of opening an account, then keep it for future use.
I doubt they designed the facility and ease for this purpose but they don't seem to want to do anything about it.

I have two accounts. One in my name and one in OH's name. Both have seperate bank account. I just use them both as and when. And yes, I have bought stuff from one account, used it or didn't like it and sold it back on the other account for what ever price it fetches.

you can have as many accounts as you like i had five my wife had five 10 in total all with different email addresses you can shill bid but it isnt worth it as a good troll through what you sell will find you out and then of they go to report you for it, but shill bidding unless its a one off is to be honest pointless .

Just a silly question really, are you allowed to have two Paypal accounts or not? Seeing that a user can have 5 or more eBay accounts? Obviously the PayPal account #1 and #2 would be in the same names and address and such-is it against PayPal rules?

I'm pretty certain that there is a limit of 3 paypal accounts per person, but not that many people have three separate bank accounts that they could attach them to!

3 is all that even the highest volume sellers really need - one personal account for buying and selling, one business micro account for low value sales, and one standard business account for higher value sales and business purchases.

It's worth remembering though, that up to 8 ebay accounts can be attached to one paypal account at any given time - but it is easy to detach and re-attach accounts as and when it is needed. Each of these 8 accounts can all have different payment addresses, but still feed the same paypal account.

In reality though, it's only geeks like me and the ultra-high volume sellers that would set up such a system. The main advantage for me is that I have been able to experiment with different listing strategies & product lines, as welll as collect regular 10% ebay vouchers when I let accounts go dormant!
