Global Giving

Here is a new initiative to help supporters of local development in poor countries find the projects they like.
Here's what they say about themselves.

www.globalgiving.co.uk

GlobalGiving connects you to some 500 well-vetted grassroots charity projects around the world. It's an efficient, transparent way to make an impact with your giving.

Here's How the Process Works
  • Project Leaders post their causes and details about what they need on GlobalGiving.co.uk - giving you an inside look at the project's unique needs and work being done.
  • You browse the website, research causes by topic or location, and pick the one that matches your interests and passions.
  • You make a donation and we combine your giving with other donations.
  • We claim back Gift Aid (if you are a UK tax-payer) to ensure your "tax bonus" goes to the project of your choice.
  • We ensure that 90% of your donation (including any Gift Aid) reaches the organisation concerned within about 60 days and therefore has an immediate impact. (The other 10% is used to cover our own costs as a small UK charity).
  • You get regular updates telling you what a difference your gift is making and the results that have been achieved.

My charity has posted two projects on the Global Giving. I'll let you find them, if you want. It would look too much like hard sell if I put the link here. ;-)

We are always looking for new ways to reach people who haven't heard about us and this looked like a good effort.

What do you think?

does yhis work out for you old toolie? it looks like just another level of admin on top of your own. or is it a good way to get the projects seen? Wouldn't I be better going straight to the tfsr site???
for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

Yes, it would be better for us if you went straight to the TFSR site but if you didn't know about us, you couldn't do that.

It is hard (or expensive) for relatively small charities such as Tools for Self Reliance to meet new supporters. Global Giving has no direct cost to us.

People often say that charities should work together so this is an example of doing that. Another thing, we collaborate with is the Good Gifts Catalogue which started the virtual (and virtuous) gift trend. www.goodgifts.org

Traditional charity marketing to recruit new donors through cold direct mail or advertisements is very expensive. I've always tried to practice 'guerrilla marketing.' That's on the MoneySavingExpert wavelength.

    Regards,
    Larry
