The flight is at 6am, it isn't a large aircraft http://www.klm.com/travel/gb_en/travel_information/on_board/seating_plans/737-400.htm with a lot of passengers, so the check in desks are unlikely to open before 4am, so if you are there at 3.30am you would have to queue for 30mins, pointless.

Sounds to me like you are just intent on complaining about something!! your objections about JFK vs. EWR have been quashed. You complained about arriving on Thanksgiving day, but you were going to anyway, the Aircraft you are on now is way better than the original, you would have been lucky to have arrived at your hotel by 10:30pm going through JFK. If your flight is at 6am and you do on-line checkin, you don't have to be at the airport till 4:30am. You will arrive in NY to enjoy the festivities of Thanksgiving day. Or is this all about trying to get some compensation on top of the cheap loop hole tickets you bought, remember, NWA could have just refused to honour those tickets and Expedia would have just refunded your money.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Give up on the argument about flying into EWR rather than JFK, EWR is 15 miles away from Manhattan and JFK is 13 miles away. You're arguing about 2 miles, which is pointless... EWR is actually an airport that serves New York City, even though it is based in New Jersey!! (and depending which hotel you're staying in, might actually be better!!!)

You chose to travel on thanksgiving, so you can't use that as an excuse either, and surely getting into NYC a few hours earlier in beneficial to you as you don't lose the whole first day just travelling...

If your flight is from MAN to AMS at 6am, it is still a european flight, so you only need to be there at the most 90 minutes before, so 4.30am, and then you check in at the same time for your transatlantic leg...

flight time changes are covered under your terms and conditons that you booked under, and if it is less than a 12 hour change it isn't significant! 6am - 2pm is only an 8 hour change.

I ALWAYS book the earliest flight possible so i get more time in NYC!
  • Thanks for that.

Objections for JFK vs EWR.... I'm guessing cab fare between those places is at least double...

I was complaining about arriving on Thanksgiving in the middle of the day... won't the Parade be going on??

    Aircraft - doesn't bother me.

The times - do bother me... We intentionally picked the 2pm flight for the sleep factor... if the GF wasn't prengnant then I wouldn't mind. But we are only going for 4ish days and I don't want here to be knackered etc...

I haven't posted the get slaughtered, I don't want compensation, flights were cheap enough.,..

I just didn't think they were able to change my flights by 12 hours and to a different US State and not offer anything else closer to the time or original destination.

I sympathise (which is more than you'll get from many around here ;)).

However s**t happens and you have to deal with it.
This is not the end of the world and nothing can be done, so just deal with it.
  • Ignore me people... I thought EWR was miles away.... 2 miles is no problem...!

And I'm also adding the hours up wrong... it is only 8 hours and not 12.

    Just a bit p'ed off...

This has never happened to me before, that airlines can just change flights...

    Thanks for all your help!

Work out the best way to get from EWR to your hotel, then look and see if it is reasonable cost.

Arriving in the middle of the day is better than the evening, work out the way of avoiding the parade.

Whatever flight you pick Jet lag will have an affect, pregnant or not.

No probs mate. Venting ones spleen is good therapy. But you did mention compensation, that and the words rip off and con tend to get unwanted attention on here. I personally like Liberty International as EWR is called now, much easier than JFK which will be a god send with a pregnant woman in tow.
The parade will be about finished by 3pm FOOTBALL TIME. Depends where you are staying as to whether you will be impacted or not. Anyway, enjoy your stay, fabulous time of year to be visiting NY

even though it is in a different state, it does still come under the same port authority, so therefore is a viable airport to fly into... it's only across the river..

if you're worried about taxi fares, pre book a car service from carmel or telaviv... all this info is in my new york guide (new york thread page one there is a link on there!!!)
