So WHAT do I do?

Got 14K Balance with Halifaxone 0% expires Dec04.

Applied for a Capitalone 18 month card rang them up to find out what was going on as I applied early Nov. They said they sent a form to be signed but didn’t get it so am waiting for another – asked what my Balance would be but they couldn’t confirm as they required that form pants!

So applied for a Lloyds TSB advance card transferring 5k to them from above. - I have been very impressed with the speed of getting the new card and balance transfer.

Now the question is what do I do with the remaining 9K? Pay it off or pay the interest off? I think it was 3.9% they were offering after the intro 0%.

Captialone is no way going to be able to do the transfer if it's good anyway till way past the 4th. Will I still be quid’s up or worse off paying the interest?

  • When exactly in December does your deal end? If you have a couple of weeks to play with I would apply for an Egg card if you don't already have one. If you apply on-line and request the balance transfer with the application you have a good chance of it going through on time, or only having to pay a few days interest. They are very efficient with applications and everything else IMO and have fairly generous credit limits.

The good thing about Egg is that you can balance transfer money straight into your current account. Therefore if you get the Capital One card sorted you can transfer the Egg balance onto that. This will leave you with no debt on your Egg card so you can then balance transfer the amount up to your credit limit from Egg straight into your bank account and add it to your stoozing pot.

    Hope this helps

Marbles offers 0% on balance transfers for 6 months and easy [and instant] acceptance. You could give them a try [NB now part of HSBC]

Otherwise Lloyds might give you an even bigger credit limit if you have any other branded LTSB cards already? They might, alternatively consider matching your highest [currently unused?] credit limit on any other card? Remeber that with Lloyds you have 6 weeks after account opening to make 0% transfers in - but they all expire 6 months from the date of the earliest transfer made.

If your return is greater than 3.9% and you can't move it then keep the debt there.

I am in the EXACT position as you, I am leaving the whole debt where it is because !

    a. The cash is in my wifes name, presently earning 5.65% (cahoot).
    b. I will treat this as a long-long term debt, the value of which will be eroded by inflation so say 3 years down the road when half the debts been paid off the remaining debts value will have been eroded by something like 10% (RPI).

So no rush to move, name of the game is to maximise earnings, obviosuly if you think its going to effect getting fresh credit and it amounts to a large % of your stoozed total than thats another matter, my halifax debt is about 25% of my stoozed total, so I'm prepared to leave it be and use any fresh credit for additional stoozing.

Tell me about it ;D. I initially applied this Tuesday, received the credit agreement on Wednesday, posted it on Thursday and received an e-mail this morning saying that my new Egg card is on its way ;D

This is so much faster than when I applied for Barclaycard and Mint :).

I will be a stoozer very soon :D.
