What insurance do i need as a house owner?

Hi

Can anyone recommend a complete package of insurance to cover life insurance, critical illness and redundancy protection or maybe advise me on average costs. We're 29 & 31 respectively & non smokers.

I'm a first time buyer and my mortgage advisor is telling us that we are best off using the package he has put together but I think he's trying to earn a bit on the side as he's ultimately a salesman.

Am i right that i need cover for: life assurance, life insurance, redundancy protection, critical illness, buildings & contents

Any money saving advice gratefully accepted :>

These are regulated financial services products so to make any such recommendation would require FSA authorisation. However, packaging the segments into one plan is not often the best option.

Why are you getting advice from a salesman and not a financial adviser? An adviser has the legal requirement to make you aware of your financial shortfalls.

Best person to ask is the adviser who would know your sickness benefits, financial situation and your shortfalls. However, if you work on the basis if you have no sickness benefits, no pensions, no savings, no investments and no existing plans then you are correct.
