Bursary amount for PGCE (non-degree)?

I am starting a PGCE next sept and a PTLLS in jan this year, i hope to teach Anatomy, physiology and pathology after.

I have had no luck in finding out Bursary and Golden hello amounts for non degree routes?

Any one able to help?

  • Hi

I don't quite understand what you mean - PGCE is by definition a "degree route" as it stands for Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Are you taking one of the other routes into teaching?

Have a look at the TDA website here:

    http://www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit/thetrainingprocess/typesofcourse.aspx

and click through the links to see if you can find out about funding.

As far as the PGCE goes, bursary amounts haven't been specifically confirmed for 2009 entrants (annoying!) but the "from 2008" information is available on the site.

    HTH :)
  • Oops, I forgot that PGCE can also stand for Professional Certificate in Education. As far as I know though (certainly for the uni I've applied for a PGCE at) it is only a "professional..." if you don't pass enough credits on the course or something. You can't actually choose or apply to it as a non post-grad route.

You sure it's not a Cert Ed? Cert Ed is generally the non graduate route.
