Still no payment from the last e bay item grrrrr! I've opened a case against the buyer to try and encourage them to pay.

I've now got 36 new items on e bay and 10 have bids, albeit at 99p each. Now if only I could do that 63,000 more times I'd have this mortgage gone!

    :rotfl: That's the spirit!
  • Well, a week on and the buyer didn't pay so I relisted the item and it sold for more! And, they've paid already.

Good things - This week I've made £41 from e bay and 2 more items still to be paid for. I've also cancelled my Homeserve contract so that saves £14.56 per month. Looked at my mobile bill online and the new half price tariff starts 1st July. So changing/cancelling those two things alone will save £444.72 per year, or £1334.16 by my MF target date!

Bad things - went to Cost-co. Spent £271.17 on new tyres (desperately needed & the cheapest price), £62.88 on stamps for e bay, £20.39 on DH golf gloves (will deduct from his golf allowance) and £86.74 on groceries (including haribo in bulk!).

I keep thinking about buying another property for investment, after reading that many MFW have BTLs. This idea has always appealed, but I'm not sure if now is a good idea. My DH says after we have paid off this mortgage we should look into it. However, in 9 months I'll be 40, and I think if we get one before then with a view to keeping it until we're 65 it'll be a great addition to our pensions.

I'm just toying with this idea at the moment as I know a decision like this needs careful research, so I'm currently tracking rentals on right-move for two local towns. Also I now have Homes under the Hammer on sky plus!

    Great going with ebay :D

We have a BTL - I'd like to sell it, but DH wants to keep it until the market recovers...

  • It's six months since I realised that I'd have to overpay an extra £400 per month in order to be mortgage free in 3 years, and I've been able to save the £400 every month so far, and due to a bumper e bay session, I'll be able to do the same this month!!!

However, I think my calculations are a bit out as I think I'll still be approx. £4k short at the end of the 3 years. I'm not going to up my £400 target as that is hard going anyway, just hope that the share price rallies by March 2015.

I have also set up a standing order of £200 to another offset savings account for 'One Offs & Birthdays". I always seemed to depressed when I had to pay for annual home or car insurance etc, so hopefully that should all be covered now.

This weekend I'm going to a wedding and my gift cost a princely sum of £3.17! The couple have the best of EVERYTHING already and no wedding list, so I went to the local department store to have a browse for them. 90% off sale!!! So I got them a tea set that I'd admired myself some months ago, but couldn't justify the cost at the time. Unfortunately there was only one teapot so I couldn't buy a set for myself too, but I'll pop back next week to see if they have anymore.
