Hotmail as default?

I have Vista. It uses Windows Mail as its default, but I want to change it to Hotmail. After going into "change default programmes", the list of options comes up, but Hotmail isn't there. I've tried all sorts of searches to find how I can add it to the programmes list, but cant seem to find how. Can anyone help? Not sure if its because hotmail is a web based account.

I use XP but Outlook Express does not allow Hotmail to come through it.
I would assume it`s the same in Vista.0 -
If you download 'Windows Live' from Microsoft it comes with 'Live Mail' with which you can set Hotmail as your default mail account, and incorporate any other accounts you have too.0

Thanks Butterbean, but I've done that, but hotmail is still not appearing in "set programme defaults". What am I doing wrong:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

'Windows Live Mail' should appear in the 'program defaults' folder, and when you open 'Live Mail' it should ask you if you want to set it as the default mail handler. Then you can set your Hotmail account as the default e-mail account. So Hotmail as such won't appear as a default in the 'default programs' folder in control panel ('Windows Live Mail' will be there) but it will be your default e-mail address. I'm hoping that this is what you meant, and that it makes sense! (Hotmail won't appear as it's not a program-Windows Live is the program that is used to access Hotmail)0

I've got it now. I've always accessed hotmail through MSN, & put a shortcut on the desktop. This has a different view, but all my messages are there. Thanks a lot:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
