bloody post office, queued fo 20 mins, paying £120 in £1 coins, so only 6 bags, 3 were incorrect, until i counted them and then they were correct, must of been funny money. then she tells me my insurance has wrong , it's a 2 day old cover note, reply came back oh it's october already , finnally upon scanning the application form im asked for an mot on a 2 year old car. guess what, computer says no. what got me so much was the documents had just been checked by my council and the taxi test centre as it was going on a plated car. they couldnt issue the last bit of the taxi licence until they saw the tax, so i was unable to work the sat night and had to wait for the online stuff to come through the post. yes online is great, but on tis occasion i really needed the post office and it let me down, i wont feel guilty printing my ebay postage online now, which will be another nail in tha PO's coffin.Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007

They won't lose out much as they don't charge a fee to process tax.
They do charge to stock DVLA forms though.

That is not true! You can be fined for not displaying a valid tax disc.
The law has recently changed. From the start of September 2008, those buying their vehicle tax online, by phone or by post will be able to legally continue to drive their vehicles for up to 5 days while they wait for their new tax disc to arrive. This will only apply where the new tax disc has been applied for before the current one expires and motorists should continue to display the expired disc on their vehicle, until the new one arrives.0 -
One of our tax discs went missing once too,in the post.0
-
there is a 14 days grace period between your old disc running out and your new disc having to go up and in that time it isn't actually illegal
sorry, you are wrong, its widely believed but its a myth,
It does say on the form which gives you your code for renewing to tax your car in ample time to enable you to show the new disc when it is due.
i know at least 2 people who were lucky enouhg just to get a caution when they had renewed on line and they were stopped only 2 days into the new month.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
My local Police tod me you would be unlikely to be prosecuted if you have paid,as its DVLA who prosecute for not having a tax disc .0
-
The DVLA can only prosecute you for untaxed vehicles. They cannot take any action against failing to display a current tax disc if the vehicle is taxed.
The police, however, can issue a fixed penalty notice for failing to display a current tax disc regardless of whether the vehicle is taxed or not.0 -
Yes,that has aleady been said, and as I said the Police said it was highly unlikely. How many people ever come on this site complaining they have been given a fixed penalty in this situation. The police can instantly check if you have paid or not.0
