Skirting boards

Last time I painted my skirting boards rust stains came through after a while off the screws. Has anyone got any advice how to stop this happening again??

I was going to say the same, Op has probably used waterbased products on the skirtings.

If you still want to use the waterbased paint on the skirtings, then your best bet is to dab the screwheads with oilbased UC, eggshell, or satinwood, whatever you have to hand.

When dry, then use your ordinary waterbased products.

dig out the old filler and fill with new putty instead. rust rarely comes through putty.
    Get some gorm.
