a question for all you keen photographers out there, ive had 3 digital cameras and every one of them has a nasty delay when you press the shutter button, and 9 times out of 10 the subject has moved!
Does anyone know of a compact, good quality digital camera that doesnt suffer from this? And whats the technical term for this?
many thanks in advance

The term that is given to this is "Shutter lag"
I think this affects most digital cameras to some degree, maybe not the SLR professional types.0 -

The best i have found is the Casio Exilim. A good little camera with fast electronics and a decent Pentax lense.
We use them at work for macro shots of seal rings for reports. We have a super expensive Nikon SLR but its
no where near as sharp for some close up work.
Not my opinion, but that of several of our engineers and our main customer!
Which was good enough for me to go buy an exilim for home and we are happy with it.0 -
I have a Casio Elixim P600 - its fantastic in every department. There are many different models in the Elixim range to suit all pockets. All have impressive start up times and almost non existent shutter lag. You will not be disappointed with this range,0

There was a Fuji reviewed on the gadget show a few weeks ago.
It was around the £200 mark i think.
They advised this has a short shutter lag. Sorry can't be more help.
Their advice was to try them out in the shop, do that then buy online at the best price.

I've had a Casio Exilim Z40 for 18 months and love it. Great bit of kit for general use. Small and compact but takes great pics and even moderate standard movies when you dont have a camcorder to hand.
Shutter lag is best of my 3 digital cameras.
Highly recommended camera that has been superseeded so the newer models should be even better.I save so I can spend.0
