  • I seem to recall several different suggested ways to measure yourself - does anyone have a tried and tested method to correctly measure yourself as I always have an absolute nightmare finding bras to fit?

Back to my previous link the Big Bra Shop has a guide, which works for me.

yes Bravissimo do have a fitting service...very good and no i dont work for them either.!

Milford I would never rely on any method of measuring yourself...actually trying the bras on and checking for yourself is far better

  • I LOVE bravissimo - and this is my favourite bra

I always go into the shop and get fitted for a new style/make of bra or if I've lost/gained any weight. I'm (normally) a 36GG so I guess it's relatively important because otherwise my back just breaks.

A word to those who haven't been fitted - DO IT! It's embarrassing the first time but its definitely the only way to get a good fit. I can't recommend Bravissimo Nottingham staff enough - I went in to buy (my first ever) sports bra at the weekend and the lady there was lovely and really friendly and got me the best size straight away - I think it's good that they don't use tape measures in there, they just go by what fits, as at House of fraser they used a tape measure and made me a 42D which was ridiculously baggy at the back and made me look like I had 6 boobs at the front!
  • I followed simplyyours measuring guide and had myself as a 44F (i was wearing a 40G and getting back ache). Even got my OH to make sure i had the measuring tape correct and everthing. I then ordered bras from them and non were right, id had enough cos of course you order online and then wait a bit for it to come in the post, mean while im really struggling with back ache.

So i went into my local bra shop (no big name store or anything) and they fitted me as a........40H. Bought a bra from them right away, £28, bit more than i would have liked, but was desperate at this stage. I only have the 1 bra, but have ordered again from simplyyours with now knowing my right size.

The trouble is continualdiamond is that no two shops stock are the same size! You might be measured 40H in your shop, but simply yours 40H might not fit - a 44G might. I know its mad, but the same with clothes. I;ve just lost 2.5stone (used to be a size 18/20) My suit trousers no longer stay up so I bought some cheap ones in matalan - but had to buy size 18 to fit! Doesn't make sense as size 14/16 in M&S fit me perfectly but then an M&S shirt I tried on I had to get a size 24 .
