Electrician fees

Hi
I'm looking to get a few electrical jobs done - a fan heater fitted in my bathroom and a couple of light fittings changed.
I contacted a local electrician and was quoted:
£42 for the first half hour (incl. call out)
£14 for all subsequent half hours
Plus VAT, plus materials (I will be buying the heater and light fittings so it will just be a bit of cable)
Does this seem like a normal rate for an electrician? I had this one recommended to me.
Oh yes - I am in Edinburgh.
Thank you
Nao

snatch his hand off.or try and pin him to one fixed hourly rate. You are booking the work in advance so not technically calling him out.his rate is £56ph for the first hour and £28ph after that.Ask him to charge you a flat 28quid and tell him you will keep the T flowing. The rates he has quoted are not excessive especially in a city and the work you want doing dosen't sound complicated go for it.0
