Options
Hi,
We, That is me, mrs, son 13 and daughter 9 are gonna get a new pc. Futureproof requirements will mean the following:
Quad Core
4gb Ram
Minimum 640gb HD

I have been looking at pcspecialist.co.uk which seems good value for a customisable system. Does anybody no any better?

    Hi mccradys,

Been looking at the ones at meshcomputers.com recently, they seem good value as well.

You could also look at Dell. Whatever price you see on the site, print of all the spec, and then phone them, you should be able to get some off it. I do it all the time and end up getting an excellent deal.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

I'd just go for Dell. Their prices are good and they're very efficient.

I wouldn't get too hung up about the size of the hard-drive to be honest. If you fill 640GB then you've just got too much junk! ;)

Do you really need a quad core for a "family desktop"?

Trying to future proof a computer is largely an exercise in futility.

buy a mac.... very family friendly with parental controls built in... last for ages, and i mean ages, it is the software that helps them last so long, and can run word, excel etc etc etc..

i'm suprised this thread has gone so long without anyone mentioning a mac!
