Should I switch from Click 5 to Click 6 or Capped till 2012?

Thanks for that.
It's sounds a bit of an absurd pricing structure. If both the T&Cs of Click 5 and 6 are the same, Why not just alter the price of Click 5 to whatever Click 6 is now.
So let me get this right...
Current Click 5 is more expensive than Click 6... but Click 6 is more expensive than the old Click 5... so basically Click 6 sits somewhere between the old and new Click 5 prices???
I may just do the switch now.... anybody know what is the best site to switch from to gain maximum cashback... (I'm a member of Quidco)
They actually can't switch you to Click 6 automatically in case you want to switch supplier and thus remain on old Click 5 rates.
What is disgraceful is they don't inform you in writing that Click 6 is cheaper and let poor unsuspecting souls remain on Click 5.
As I posted in another thread this is much like the banks who phased out some of their accounts and left elderly people earning 0.1% on their life savings.
All of the utility companies have taken lessons from the mobile phone companies on having tariffs that are almost impossible to understand.0 -
hmm I think BG customer services are due a call tomorrow.
I'll be surprised if their staff can confidently explain and advise on the difference.
longforgotten... I think the reason you can't find Click Energy 5 on any comparison website is because it is no longer available. You could only sign up until 30/09/08.
I've created a spreadsheet on my other laptop that I just populated my consumption for the last two quarters.
I also have the price per unit for
2008 cap
2009 cap
2011 cap
Click Energy 5 (before this recent price rise)
Click Energy 6.
It gives me an idea of what I would pay under each tariff based on my consumption for the last quarterly bill (and a percentage comparison against the last 2008 price tariff that I was on).
Up untill recently, Click Energy 5 was about 5% cheaper (Dual Fuel) than the 2008 prices.
But The Click Energy 6 bills come out as c11% more than 2008 tariff (again Dual Fuel).0 -

I'm confused as I'd heard of click 5and waited until it had increased its prices before doing my price comparison. I do my price comparison and click 5 does not come up at all, but click 6, and I'd never heard of it. So my questions are... has BG click 6 upped its prices recently like all the other suppliers, there's an increase yet to come or its so new the price is just the price, if you see what I mean.....
Click 6 is the latest(and cheapest) BG tariff!.
Hopefully no increases for a while!0 -
Looked at one of MSE's latest articles about switching energy supplier.
It mentions that Moneysupermarket offer £30 cashback.
I went onto quidco and they offer £20 cashback if you go to moneysupermarket through them.
Would it be safe to assume you could earn the £20 by going thrrough quidco and then a further £30 after making the switch?
Then it finally dawned on me that I'm not looking to switch supplier.. I'm only switching tariff.
Is there any cashback available for switching tariff, but staying with same supplier? (I can probabaly guess answer to this but its worth finding out if anybody has been successful)0 -

You would be very lucky if you got this, in fact I would say there's no chance. If you really want to 'play the energy companies at their own game' then consider switching to Scottish Power (their online tariffs have very similar rates to Click 6) through Quidco for £72 (limited offer, i believe), get the cashback then back to BG Click 6 (BG currently poor for cashback but has been as high as £80 previously so who knows what they will be offering in 2-3 months?). HTH.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

.....
I found this too. I only changed over to them a couple of weeks ago after asking the advisor whether any increases were due on click 5. He (of course) said that there are no plans for any increase. On the basis of that call I phoned them up again yesterday and have informed them that i was mis-sold this tariff. I will apparently get a call from their customer liaison team who deals with mis-selling.
Doubt i will get anything ( other than my £80 for switching through quidco), but nothing ventured nothing gained.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

To be fair its unlikely that any of the people in the call centre would know much before the new tariff was announced.
I applied to join Click 5 on 28th September. Rung yesterday and was told I would need to ask to change to Click 6 or cancel, but they could not do anything yesterday as their IT was not working. Letter arrived today dated 1st October and yes it still refers to Click 5 even though it had been withdrawn the day before. No mention of Click 6.
I tried to ring to cancel and the so-called customer service is not working today because their IT is being upgraded, no option to leave a message and all it says is ring back Monday but Tuesday would be better as they will be busy Monday. All the time, of course, the remaining cooling-off period is shrinking fast.0
