Help need quick advice for new card

in Credit cards
Morning people,
I have assigned myself the task of booking my honeymoon for next year.
Now the payment will likely be in the region of £2,500 to £5,000.
What with the recent crash of XL and others I am concerned that If I pay this sum with cash then should the company I am travelling with go bust, I face losing the lot.
I have the money, however I am looking to take out a credit card (first one) to make the initial payments (as I believe you are covered to a certain amount), and then pay the balance almost immediately.
At the moment I am swaying towards the Capital one platinum as this has 0% on purchases until Sept 09.
Does anyone else have any other recomendations or T&C's that I should be wary of.
Many Thanks
Rick

For the Capital One Platinum you need Excellent credit scoring which you certainly don't have if this is your first c/card (someone else here said before that one of the criteriums for "excellent rating" is previous card with minimum limit of £5k).
Who do you bank with? For first credit card usually your bank is the best chance.0 -
Currently bank with Barclays although I believe these don't have 0% on new purchases. I also have an Abbey account that I have held for about 20yrs.
With the Capital one account, I have a mortgage if this helps.
Really annoyed now as well, just entered all my details on the Capital One web-site and pressed submit only for the form to re-appear part filled in. I phoned them and was advised that they hadn't recieved an application and to wait 48hrs just in case!0
