How to make our bed more comfortable?!

Hi Folks
Well the title says it all really. I have been suffering from aches just about everywhere for the past few weeks and Im trying to eliminate what is causing them (basically would feel a bit stupid going to the docs saying I ache from head to toe andhave no idea why!) One thing I am thinking is that maybe it could be our bed. Cant afford to but a new matress at the moment so was wondering if anyone knows of any great OS ways to make it more comfortable?
Thanks

Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!

We've put a thick quilt under the bottom sheet and it certainly makes it cosier. Might be worth a try....:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

If mattress seems to be sagging put some wood between base and matress to give extra support, keep meaning to do this on my side from where my neice jumped on the bare base while i were bringing the matress in the house and put it through so im sagging quite badly my side.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

You could try Freecycle for a new-er mattress or mattress topper?0

Yeah, I'd look around and see if I could get a topper on the cheap...otherwise sticking any old duvets/quilts/fleeces etc under the sheet will make it a bit squidgier...0

We have been sleeping on a double airbed for over a year now as we are waiting for our house to be finished, (it is quite comfy honest), and we have a very thick matress protector type thing (looks like a duvet as is around 2/3 inches thick) under the bedsheet, and it is very warm and comfy, I dont wana get out of it in the morning. People think its awful we've been sleeping on an airbed for so long, but it is so so comfy dont know what i'll do when we get a 'proper' bed! :-)Trainee Wakeboarder, Fashion and celebrity devotee!0

This would only work if it is the base that has collapsed. Otherwise the springs may have collapsed, in which case I'm afraid it's had it.0 -
We got a matress topper from Aldi yesterday - they are on offer - a double or a king for £49.99, seems very cosy.0

I don't know if there are any stores near you, but Bid up TV have a store in Hatfield, and they often sell memory foam toppers very cheap if you go on the right day. However don't use a topper to revive a worn out mattress.0

We got feather bed toppers for our beds. They came from Northern Nights on QVC. Not sure of the price, but worth looking at their website www.qvcuk.comComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

If you cannot afford a mattress topper (they can be expensive) then why not try a couple of cheap duvets. At the mo my local Mr S has a king size summer duvet on sale for just £3.50 but for a kings size bed a double would fit just as good! Ikea also do cheap duvets and they will basically do the same thing as a mattress topper, although not as good as a memory foam one , it may help.JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200
FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200
