Insulating a stained glass window

Options
We have 2 large stained glass windows in the hallway which let in a huge amount of cold during the winter, but which I love too much to remove and have ordinary double-glazing fitted.

The rest of the house is double-glazed, and we were thinking of getting a secondary pane of clear glass fitted over each window but can't really afford this at the moment.

I've heard about temporary solutions such as a plastic film which goes over them but am worried this will damage them?

Would be grateful for any advice/suggestions!

The plastic film does not touch the glass, it would not work if it did. Another way is to put clingfilm on the frame leaving an airgap between it and the glass, basic double glazing.
  • Thank you - I have heard of some stuff which does go directly on to the glass but have had a trawl on the internet and couldn't find that so maybe I misunderstood.

Stormguard insulation film seems to be popular - can anyone vouch for it or recommend any other type?
