Juddering boiler, air trapped?

This morning we could hear a juddering noise through the radiators about every 30 seconds while the gas boiler was on. Two events could have triggered this:

1) Power cut (only a few seconds) at about 8am this morning

2) Water mains being cleaned by aeration.

It's a Gloworm Micron 60FF (only about 3 years old).

My guess is there's air in the system, though in the airing cupboard there's a bleed pipe, which I loosened to find no air being released.

Any ideas on what to do next, if a plumber/corgi (engineer, not a dog :o) is needed it'd be nice to have an idea of what's actually wrong, and whether this is something Severn Trent are potentially liable for as they claimed it was ok to use heating (as it doesn't need a fresh water supply due to cold water tank in loft, presumably).

Any advice appreciated :)

It's more likely that your pump is failing, or the boiler is continuing to run after the pump stops. Either way, the problem is that the boiiler cannot dissipate heat quickly enough.

Thanks - I wasn't sure whether those two factors could have had an effect, to me it seems too much of a co-incidence...

I'll reset the boiler but if that doesn't solve it, should an engineer be our next port of call? :o

Take a look at what the boiler and the pump are doing when it starts, stops, cycles down etc.
