Barclaycard Onepulse

My husband applied for a OnePulse card on receipt of your email talking about their Balance Transfer offer (23/09/08). We were surprised he didn't get an acknowledgement email (we use my email for anything 'money'). We didn't receive anything from them by post either. Should add that our family income is around £50k and all we want to do is transfer a £800 debt from our one RBS card which has a current APR of 24.9%. It's this high not because we have bad credit, but because we paid it off a few months ago and asked them to reduce the card (called a "Beneficial" card, originally from the NAS/UWT) to a £2,500 limit.

When my husband finally managed to get through to a human being (the phone number published on their site was incorrect) - he was told that they had no record of his application! The gent he spoke to (in Mumbai, we think) said they had had "computer problems" at the time he applied. Just wondered if anyone else had come across this or had actually managed to get a OnePulse. We won't be trying Barclaycard again!

Yep - my flatmate had the same. He applied a few days ago, maybe it was last week - I told him to call Barclays to see if he had been accepted and they said that none of the applications that had been done online recently had been recorded and he'd need to apply again. I don't much like Barclaycard
  • Same experience here too. I've applied three times over the last three weeks - no record of any application.

  • I originally applied online to Barclaycard for the OnePulse card three weeks ago. Checked at the beginning of the week, they had no record of the application. Tried again two days ago, after having spoken to a woman who said a confirmation email should be sent out within 48 hours. Have also just spoken to someone in India, who confirmed that there is no record of my second application and suggested I applied by going into a branch. He seemed initially surprised when I suggested that there might be problems with the website, which I gathered was the case, after having checked on here, but then agreed with me that there were problems with this particular card. Am wondering if there has been a surge in applications, and if the system can't cope?
  • Has anyone heard anymore about this yet?, my hubby applies online for this card a couple of days ago but had no acknowledgement at all via email or on screen, I appreciate it's too early by post as yet but I'm not sure now whether he should phone to check?

I applied on Thursday evening for the second time, after my initial application was lost in the same way as others have described above.

After being told yesterday that the second application wasn't showing up either, I phoned again today, expecting to have to apply over the phone. But I asked one last time whether my application was showing up, and it was! Apparently it's been approved, and I should receive an agreement form to sign very soon.

Hopefully, this means that the online OnePulse applications are finally working, even if it does take a few days for them to show up on Barclaycard's system.

PS. There's a freephone helpline that's open 7 days a weeks for new applications and recent applicants: 0800 731 0200

    (listed on http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal-home/customer-service/contact-list/index.html )
  • I have experienced the same: I originally applied on 19th September, but heard nothing for 2 weeks (not even a confirmation email). After several calls to the helpdesk I was informed of the technical problems with the website and was advised to re-apply, which I did last week. I rang this morning to check the status of my application, and after being passed around a few times, was informed that no web applications had been received for the past 3 weeks! I was told the best option would be to go into a branch and apply manually, which I attempted this lunchtime only to find the terms are different - balance transfer is for 12 months at a fee of 2.9%, as opposed to 14 months at 2.5% online!

I have decided to give up with Barclaycard, but I am concerned that the two online applications I have made will eventually work their way through the system, resulting in checks on my credit file, and potentially new accounts being created. Is this likely?

I find it very strange that Barclaycard have continued to accept web applications given the known problems.

They are asking that you wait two weeks from the date of application, there was a fault, all applications were received but there is now a two week backlog in processing.

Just been told about an hour ago that exactly the same thing has happened to us

The annoying thing is that we called last week and they told us the paperwork was being processed! Lying sods.

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."
