Comparing Insurance Companies

The floods in Morpeth has provided a lot of examples of who the best companies are. My in-laws are insured with Halifax, quick response, paid up front for accommodation (a house not a caravan), itemised everything that went had to go in the skip, assigned a project manager. So far a good all round service, they even phoned just to ask how things were going.

On the other hand Prudential are making peoples lives a misery. They told one householder that kitchen cupboards above water level would not be replaced, despite damp running right up the walls. Possessions were thrown on the back garden and the owner told to sort through them.

Is there a website peoples experiences can be gathered to weed out companies giving bad service? You only find out the worth of an insurance company when you claim, would be good to have a better idea before buying a policy.
