Of course it's a Rip Off. I'm sure even Mr T doesn't have much in his store with a 500% mark up on it, and certainly not a tin of beans?

I was so shaken by the price Tescos are charging for Lemon Grass that I took a photo of it which I frequently bore my friends with - 500% ain't the 1/2 of it.
  • How do the airlines get away with advertising low fares then racking them up with 'charges'?

I just booked flights with FlyBe (but they're all at it) which cost about £80. However, the 'taxes and charges' cost another £ 60 (approx.). I know that the domestic tax is £5 each way, so where does the other £50 come from. I cannot find a breakdown of these charges on their site!

Also, I paid by debit card. They charged me £1.50 per passenger per flight for this - even though there was only one debit card fee!!! I know from my own business that the typical processing fee is only 30p per transaction so how do they get away with charging me £3? This is clearly an inflated charge - just like the banks!

It's clear that many airlines are lying to us. Their fares are not representative of the actual fares. They advertise low fares but then charge for all the extras which they know they can get away with, even though they do not reveal what these 'extra' charges are.

Surely this is illegal advertising? Anyone know?

    FB.

Where have you been for the last 5 years?

Airlines & Agents always quote the 'base' price, It's their way of marketing the product.

I don't think your getting a bad deal with Flybe, They are doing better than most (surviving) Airlines.

I would rather pay a bit more and keep the Airline in biz than rather not be able to travel at all.

At the end of it all people have a choice, if you dont like the thought of lining flybe or ryanair's etc pockets go elsewhere and make a stand the reality is of course for every 1 person on that flight that thinks they've been ripped off there are prob 150 who think its a royal bargain.

I can assure you no Airline is 'lining' their pockets in this current climate, They are having a job on staying afloat.

They have to pay the staff, engineers, And the 'VERY' high fuel bill at the end of the month.

because as we know, Tesco is a reputable company. Wheras Ryanair (and many of the other holiday related companies who use similar annoying tactics) is.... well decide for yourself.

Are you serious ? There used to be thread upon thread on MSE dedicated to Tesco mispriced (mysteriously, normally upwards:rolleyes: ) items. If you caught them out they gave you the item FREE.
When they got wacked for the PS2s one Christmas, 06 or 07 I think, they cancelled the refund policy. Have they stopped mispricing ?

I got a tin of beans free about 6 months ago, euro beans in Ireland I might add so I guess the policy lives on west of the empire. :j

Sorry my mistake but the point I was trying to make, which you mis-understood was you seemed to take lining someones pockets with profiteering, of course we are lining their pocket by putting cash in them.

    Right off to specsavers.

  • Recently found similar rip off fee with Air Berlin. They have recently added a 10 euro booking fee, PER PERSON.Did,nt charge last last year when I booked. Would be interested in what's changed for them to add this onto the final bill.

Hello, wakey wakey, you need to get up. Its 2008, youve been asleep for nearly a year and a half.
Since you nodded off, early 2007, fuel prices have tripled, theres a credit crunch and around 40 airlines and nearly the same amount of banks have went bust
