Late Bookings over Xmas period

I posted here a couple of weeks ago and got some good suggestions from saveapenny and others regarding a holiday in lanzarote over xmas but haven't been able to post since then due to login problems
which have been sorted out now.

I have another Q.

Would I get a reasonable deal leaving to book a holiday right up to our last day of travel, 22nd Dec? ( prices now are about a grand upwards for 2 weeeks s/c in Puerto Del Carmen )

The missus is going into hospital on the 10th and doesn't want us to book now in case anything goes wrong, which it shouldn't but she's a massive worrier.

Are late deals over xmas the same like other parts of the year in that a "bargain" can be found?

I'm stuck and not sure what to do

Late availability really does depend on market forces in each year. It does seem to fluctuate year to year for each resort i.e. companies will put on extra if demand was high in the previous year this can sometimes cause surplus. Xmas is obviously a high demand period for the canaries but quite often you find there is a lot available up to a specific date and then very little after that date. I would guess that as Christmas day is Sunday there may be a fair amount for the early part of the w/c 19th Dec but virtually nothing in the second half of the week.
Your best bet is to keep looking and book if the market starts to harden.

If you can be flexible on departure airport amount of nights etc, you will have a great chance of a cheapie, but the later you leave it the less the choice etc, there are still 146 holiday options for lanzarote from the uk on your date 39 of them for 14nts, do a search at.

The date you want travel will be very hard for the holiday companys to sell out completely especially 7nts duration.
