You weren't playing around with any settings, like storage location?

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\(GUID)\Microsoft and see if there are any files in there, and what size they are. If it's empty in there, that's bad news.

My emails suddenly all disappeared months ago -and then re-appeared of their own accord. This has just happened to me again and the annoying thing is I'm trying to renew my car insurance and want to use Quidco but I can't remember my login details so I asked them to email me with new password and this has not appeared in my emails although according to Quidco it has been sent. I'm also getting lots of pop-ups. This happened before but righted itself so I still don't know what causes it.
