Yes, but let's read the article shall we - that discount is available only to those who are prepared to buy 5 or more properties at specific Barratt sites in East Yorkshire.

To be fair, the discount is for associations willing to buy 5 or more houses in batches, so the discount wouldnt be available to one off normal purchasers. And its just one development in Yorkshire, so your title is very misleading.

See posts 2 and 7 - how many properties would this housing association be buying to get the max discount?

One of Britain's best-known sellers has slashed 97 per cent off the price of goldfish as the global financial crisis takes an ever-increasing toll on construction and manufacturing of fishbowls.

I saw 10 goldfish on eBay with a reserve of 10p each so it's true (and 'Official') then. There's a worldwide crash in goldfish prices!

One example of an offer of excess production to a housing association as a 'job lot' does not represent ANYTHING 'official' about house prices. It just shows the builder needs to repair cash-flow pronto.

I should imagine that there has always been a big discount available to associations buying batches - just it has been highlighted now because of the current situation.

I really dont see the current financial crisis as a time for glee - it will hit each and every one of us in one way or another, so its unnecessary to wind up exaggerations of the situation.
