Problems calling Iceland mobile, cheapest option?

As title says...ignore the title...I have an Estonian mobile number +372, yet when someone tries to dial it via the likes of 18185 and 18866 it does not connect, it either gets an engaged tone or sometimes like its ringing but does not ring my end.
If they call direct via BT then its not a problem.
Is this common if so is it fixable or is it best to look to another provider or method.
Have seen these companies offering access via 0911 numbers at sat 15-20p per minute but does that mean you pay them and BT on top for calling the 0911 number?
Thanks

In this case, 1899, 18185 and 18866, all charging 15p per minute, are most certainly not the cheapest options.
The MSE International CallChecker details a good few providers offering 8p and 10p per minute rates for calling calling Icelandic mobiles via 0871 gateway numbers.
In each of those cases, you dial the 11 digits of the gateway number - at which point BT starts charging you for the call - and then the full Icelandic mobile number. You are charged 7p call set-up fee and then the per minute rate by BT. No other charges apply.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Thanks for the info, we already have 18185 and 18866 but really only use 18185.
I could handle the 15p a minute charge if my phone was actually ringing, I just put it to the test and checked the bill, it registers and charges but the phone certainly does not ring.0 -

Just tested it out on 0844calls.co.uk using the 0871 number and again I hear it ringing but the Iceland mobile does not ring at all0 -
Are you sure about the number?
+372 is Estonia; Iceland is +354
If it's a roaming SIM from 09 mobile, there are issues that some providers don't seem able to reach their number series; perhaps it's not defined in their dialplan as valid, as it's a bit away from other Iceland allocations and also a different length number
If it's Travelsim, or one of its resellers such as Oneroam, then it is an Estonian number. I haven't heard of similar problems reaching these0 -
Sorry my bad, I did mean Estonia and not Iceland, think they use Iceland numbers too or maybe its with me messing about with Iceland banks thats stuck in my head.
Its the global go sim I have but using these over-rides seem to be a non starter0 -
Anyone have the gosim with Estonian number and have trouble with access numbers and the like?0

So using these 0871 numbers, if they quote a price of 8p per min, it's actually BT that charge me the 8p on my bill and nothing else or is it the quoted 8p on the website then BT's charge for dialling 0871 on top?0 -
You only get charged by BT (assuming you're dialling on a BT line). So using these 0871 numbers, if they quote a price of 8p per min, it's actually BT that charge me the 8p on my bill and nothing else or is it the quoted 8p on the website then BT's charge for dialling 0871 on top?
How would the other firm(s) bill you? They don't know who you are.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks yes I knew there would be no way of actually billing you but perhaps they have some agreement where they charge x amount of pence per minute and BT charge their fee but it all comes on the BT bill and they sort out proceeds within the company.
But if its just 8-10p thats fine, some seem to work and others dont, no idea why0
