Does she have a subject that she likes? When I was 11 I wanted to be a Forenic Scientist so I was given loads of 'crime and victims' and 'infamous murders' type books which really set me off reading, well reading at least a new subject. Before that it was Lord of the Rings (and the Hobbit!) and Narnia :rotfl: What comes around goes around.
What about Horrible Historys? Theres loads of them out now and even at 20 I still go back to them if I want a history fact.
Animorphs (which there are 54 or so books now, I really enjoyed these and one day will finish reading them)
His Dark Materials (I found the books hard to start with but once I got to know the characters it was a good flowing set of books and they are on special at amazon at the moment http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0439994799/ref=amb_used_b_3/203-2965898-6593507 )
If you wanna post what she / they are "into" i'll have a think about the books.

Me too,
my daughter went through the as many Goosebump books as we could get from e-bay and market stalls as most shops don't stock them anymore. She also enjoyed the full set of Harry Potter, Lemony Snickett, anything by Jacqueline Wilson and also Karen McCrombie books - although R.Dahl she enjoyed when she was more around 8yrs.
Also for your younger one - my daughter also enjoyed all the Horrid Henry Books but I know that was a good few years ago - not sure whether around 8 or younger!0 -
At that age I was reading The Famous Five and Mallory Towers.
Ahhhhhhhh, those were the days!0 -
What about a National Book Voucher - these are accepted in all book shops (except WH Smiths) so she can choose her own.0

My 11 year old daughter loves Jacqueline Wilson and also The Lemony Snickets Series but she is also a great fan of the Alex Rider Series by Anthony Horowitz.0
