Hi,
I want to sell my ka privately. What would be the best way for me to do this -I'm thinking of putting poster in its window, advert in local paper.
Has anyone got any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Someone told me that advertising in the car's window is illegal.

Not sure it would count as a crime against humanity though?

autotrader web site and ebay still seem to be the best bets.
Lot's of buyers looking but also lots of cars, so yours has to stand out in terms of a good specification / condition / mileage or the lowest price for age and mileage.

    Try the free sites like
    http://www.preloved.co.uk/

    www.gumtree.com

This topic was discussed before and one good suggestion was to place any free web adverts on lists for adjacent towns or cities
  • i also advertised mine on freeads.net and got a few calls about it, i heard its illegal if you park on the road with for sale signs on the car but theres nothing to stop you putting them on while your driving it or if you are able to park it on a drive you could put signs on whichever window is facing the pavement, i could be wrong though so might be worth checking the local council website?

I can personally recommend http://www.pistonheads.com I sold my last two cars on there within a week.

It is a free service, mainly aimed at 'enthusiasts' but any car can be listed for FREE! :D

Also consider joining the owners club forum for your car, a great place to sell as the people there already have an interest in your car.
I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!
  • Hiya, i am currently selling my car and after spending two days checking them all out, i have a list you might find handy of totally free websites to advertise your car on. One suggestion i would also make is to firstly join a site like ukcarads.co.uk and use the Dial Safe telephone number they provide to redirect to your own phone, free of charge, on all the other ads you put online, to save displaying ur own number :)

    OK here it is:

    ukcarads.co.uk
    local.thesun.co.uk
    vehicletrader.co.uk
    carseller.co.uk
    gumtree.co.uk
    buyacar.co.uk
    trade-it.co.uk
    preloved.co.uk
    uk.freeads.net
    usedcartrader.co.uk
    vivastreet.co.uk
    motoring.co.uk
    car-sale.org.uk
    proautodata.co.uk
    searchacar.co.uk
    wheels-near-u.co.uk
    autowebsearch.co.uk
    freecarclassifieds.co.uk
    trade-it.co.uk
    pistonheads.com

Im sure theres a few more...im on a mission to sell my car without paying any advert fee's. I only started today so we shall see lol! :j
