limited (wireless) access....why?

I've an HP notebook on Vista which I hooked up to a wireless access point. It has detected it but only allows "limited access" & won't let me on the internet.
I can't seem to find out why, it's OK on wired access so I presume it's some kind of safety devise but I haven't a clue....anyone got a clue, please.

my guess would be that between the access point and vista one of them has neglected to give you an ip address, if your address is 69.xxx not 192.xxx or 10.xxx then it is almost certain. you may need to set the connection manually

You need to put in the Network Security code which you will find in your Router control window. This is the reason why it isnt allowing you to connect fully. You will either have a WEP, WPA and so on enables (if not you should) so you have to put the security code into you laptop. This should solve your problem.
